Title: Using telemedicine to support stroke care in the East of England
Lynda Sibson’s clinical background is as a Primary Care NursePractitioner in a Walk-In nurse-led clinic in central London in the mid1990’s. As part of our advancing nursing practice, she participated in a research study focusing on telemedicine support for a nurse-led stand-alone clinic. Her academic experience includes a Principal Lectureship at the University of Hertfordshire, leading and developing a number of nursing and paramedic programmes. Lynda currently works as the Telemedicine Manager for the East of England Stroke Telemedicine Partnership, hosted by Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Established in 2011, they provide an Out of Hours stroke telemedicine service for 7 of our regional hospitals. Each hospital has access to one of 13 Stroke Consultants for rapid, expert advice to support decision making for thrombolysis for acute ischaemic stroke since 2011. To date they have assessed over 4,000 patients. They are also currently working with East of England Ambulance Service to support pre-hospital clinicians in managing stroke mimic patients using telemedicine. She is one of the founders and Consultant Editor for the Journal of Paramedic Practice and a Faculty Member with UKeMed
